I woke up for College as per usual, went to my kitchen for some Milk.
Counted My babies




8 Cans of Juicy, sexy, mouth watering Carlsberg.

But yeah, i came back from college about 5pm
and got in, My room mate had just left to go home for
reading week in London.

My friends from home arived here to visit me, I went into
the kitchen for some cans for pre drinking and there it was...



6/8 Cans GONE!
Did i die and go to hell!
She knew that i'm in my overdraft
But yeahh that pretty much ticked me off all day....

So it was time for retaliation.
It's not like i could complain to her as she
was half way to bloody London. So the Silent attack

seamed an amazing way to aproach this...











Ohh yeah! thats what you get when you drink my Carlsberg!
yeahh 4 rolls of Makin tape and a half a roll of celotape later

I was pleased :)

What is Graphic Design? REVENGE!


Ohhh not to mention this wasnt the first time things have gone missing
all our house mates in the Big brother park of Liberty have had things
taken, 2 did a test and left half a bottle of wine in the fridge but marked it
off in pen and suprize it went down.

I am going to buy a bottle of Blossom Hill Vin Blanc

Drink half

Colour

Orange.

Out of a load of research sheets i finally got rid of the bull ideas
and got onto something that i thought was interesting and had some in depth context to my colour.

In a way we all got different briefs.

Mine was Orange is 1512.

Why?

well it was all based on a simple question which needed some investigation,
which came first, the chicken or the egg?

well which came first, the Orange or the Orange?
(orange - colour
orange - fruit)

well after quite alot of time i discovered the answer to the puzzle.
The colour is named after orange the fruit, the colour was refaired to in old english
as Geoluhread which basically meant Yellow - Red in a modern English translation.

The first recorded use of orange as a colour name in English was in what year, dare i answer?
yes in 1512 in the court of King Henry VIII.

Now I thought, thats quite interesting, how many people will of found this out?
No one in the class knew, which led to a indavidual graphical opportunity.

I instantly knew what i was going to do from that point.
I defaced a portrait of old Henry the ginger ninger and added images of various orange items
which were to reflect areas of his personality, after all, what is orange?

Well im sure with no research needed we all know that Henry was:

delbt with caution
hypocritical
ginger
feared
vibrant
horny (i mean how many wifes eh?)
murderer (how many wifes did he be head?)
childish
sharp
a Joke
savvage
Greedy
Selfish
Orange!!

oh he hated Marc Redhead to, research into that one

i got my sketch of henry dawg out then
then i altered him to make him sharper rather than round
be cause he was a prick, i think we'd get on...
erm yeah beside the point. i made him into a abstract composition to reflect
essence of the colour orange.
i then added different items in his grasp to
give an impression of what orange is, and what is orange
and the personality of henry cakes,
these were my ten!

Cone - Caution
Simply Red - Ok... no real reason for that bar my humour
Pumpkin - Feared
Dildo - Horny
Tiger - Savvage
UV - Center of attention
Lucozade - Energetic
Redhead's Head - Murderer
Pile of Oranges - Greed/ The reason for orange

In essence i wanted to Visualy Communicate that Orange is more than it seams.
All of these items gave off what you would associate Orange with.

Crit = "What has Henry VIII got to do with Orange?"

in essence everything.

To conclude with, something i enjoy to do..

How many posters/ advertisments etc do you look at and understand straight away
and then forget about forever.

How many posters/ advertisments etc do you see and think what the *Explicit Deleted* is that?

and then your mind tingles and you use your head box (brain) and think what possibly
could be the answer to this riddle, well thats how i like to work. There is more to Orange
than people make out, sometimes that extra step forward to show a more in depth concept
is that extra stab in the neck back for lack of education.

But yeah anyway, its those mind tingling advertisments that stick in your head alot longer than the others.

On that note, i'm gunna have a piss, rob some food and beer off Marc
and get Wasted! :)

Partner Type

Well i decided to narrow all my words down to a fine three to communicate how i saw my partner, broken down these words were:

Search
Intelligent
Mysterious

In all after many sheets of research i decided to take the magnifying glass font to
experimentation.

This showed all three of my words, as they link in to eachother very well.
I wanted to give the feeling of 'Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover'

this was shown with the magnifying glass, as when you look at something it remains what it is...
were as i wanted to give the feeling that you should look closer at things before you judge them.

My partner wasn't how i expected him to be at all, so i thought this would be a strong prejudice piece to proceed with.

In the crit i got told my letter B looked like glasses... to me this wasn't a great concern as
glasses do not contrast against intellects, glasses to me give people a aire of wisdom without
having anything to prove... 

Another point made was that the font went off the subject and resembled a visual link to Sherlock Holmes (A famous fictional detective of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries).....

This to me is fuel for my concept.
If my font gives a feeling of sherlock holmes, an intelligent man who looked closer into mysteries to search and discover them (although fictional) almost the opposite to critasism?




In my letters i used 2 colours Black and Red.

Black - Main structure/detail
Red - Areas of the letter inside the magnfying glass to enlarge the detail in the Pt size of the font.

I used Redpurposely to show that the piece was being enlarged, i need to play around with colour though, Im going to stick to darker greys to black to give an idea of change.

In all i wanted a wise, safisticated kind of aperence for my font.
In comparison to the other type faces at the crit, i believe mine was the strongest
at achieving this.

However my font needs much more work and more manipulational experimenting to be carried out for a muchmore posative attraction.

Type Experimentation

At the moment im exploring different ways to visualy repersent the word
Explorative, ive broke it down to other words which discribe this:

Explore
Find
Discover
Search

With this i instantly thought of using differnt items which are used to show this
the first and most obvious one is the classic magnifying glass to build a type face up

I researched into a font named Unanimous which basicaly looked like this...



To me this fitted in perfectly with the frame of the magnifying glass.
Here is an example of a letter i designed in rough...



But Yeahhh i think its *Explicit Deleted* mint aha
i love the out come and how it fits in with the word simply by
playing around with the shape of a magnifying glass ;)

Another thing ive experimented with (also to do with discovery, search etc) is a typeface
built up of finger prints, i believe this links to Mystery and states there is more to the person
than it seams which would link into quite a few more of my words.

For this i searched for a messyish font that could be used as a stencil.
yes stencil, as i am going over the letters with my finger, the structure of the
typeface changes completely...



This is the font i chose, as it was the right kind of look to be manipulated with my fingers :)

Type

Whilst looking (not LUKING) into typefaces i wanted to find some
hand made typefaces as our new project is to design type by hand
so i found some interesting type on the internet...



I love how basic typefaces have been altered to make a various amount of new type
all by altering areas of type such as the stroke, decender, counter and serif etc...

I then looked at some more type...



As soon as i saw this it popped out to me, all by the use of colour to give
a 3D kind of effect, however i was quite interested to step out my boundries
and find a more hand made kind of typeface, it was then when i discovered this image...



A whole typeface built up of bent nails. i thought this was pretty neat how it stepped out
of the basic boundries and went further on into discovery (which was one of my ten words for the brief)

I wanted to then have a play around with a type..


We decided to choose the letters i, d and e in random order
and stuck them to a door at Liberty Park to render a feeling of
personality towards the person who lived there, Mitch... aka Newt
the self harmer. We thought that the knifes resembled his personality
and his pass times and hobbies... self harm

i think it worked and resembled him very well, so does he.
However the following image has been deleted to ensure no one gets hurt who sees it.

I'm having a sly problem with my cockle faced printer/scanner at the moment
but it will be sorted by Friday so i can come at you like a breeze block of fury!!!
